Outline and Purpose of the Course	自然言語テキストを処理するために必要な、形態素解析、構文解析、意味解析、文脈解 析等について論じる．また、機械翻訳や自然言語インタフェースなどの言語情報処理の応用についても紹介する． This lecture focuses on morphological analysis, syntactic analysis, semantic analysis, and context analysis, which are necessary to process natural language texts. We also explain their applications such as machine translation, information retrieval and natural language man-machine interface.
Schedule and Contents	テキスト処理(1) 自然言語処理の前提となるテキスト処理について述べる． 文の解析技術(4～5) 言語の形式的モデル，形態素解析，構文解析の手法について述べる． 意味を扱う技術(3～4) 文や文章の意味を把握する各種手法について述べる． 自然言語処理の応用(4～5) 情報検索，自然言語インタフェース，自動翻訳などの自然言語処理の応用について述べる． Text processing (1) Explain text processing as a preprocessing for natural language processing. Parsing techniques(4～5) Explain formal language theory, morphological analysis methods and syntactic analysis methods Semantics analysis (3～4) Introduce several methods to handle semantics of sentences and texts Applications of natural language processing (4～5) Explain natural language processing applications such as information retrieval, natural language interface, and machine translation
Evaluation Methods and Policy	成績評価はレポートにより行う．成績評価の基準は，言語情報処理の基本的アルゴリズムを理解し，レポート課題に対する十分な解答を提出すること． Grading is based on assignments/reports. Evaluation criteria is that students have to understand basic algorithms of language information processing and submit sufficient repots for the assignments.
