Outline and Purpose of the Course | Ch?n Y?n k? (1890~1969) was one of the most prominent historians in 20th-century China. His broad outlook and sharp questioning have greater value now than ever before. In this course, we will do a close reading of his notable work A Brief Introduction to the Political History of Tang Dynasty, and get a glimpse of his historical perspective. | |||
Course Goals | To learn to correctly read academic papers on Chinese history, and endeavor to accurately grasp academic arguments while correctly interpreting historical data cited in the text. | |||
Schedule and Contents |
The course will mainly be conducted thus: ① Read the text aloud (original or modern Chinese; historical documents will be read in the original). ② Explore translated manuscript (question and answer). ③ Revise translated manuscript. This process will be explained in detail in the first class. |

Grading based on participation (presentation content) (100%). Evaluation based on the achievement of the course objectives under the grading standards of the Department of Human and Environmental Sciences. |
