Outline and Purpose of the Course The main purpose of this lecture course is to provide students basic viewpoint and knowledge required for environmental leaders who can practically solve environmental issues occurring in developing countries, showing several international environmental projects as practical case works. All of the lectures and presentations are given in English. The lectures in this class are conducted in Yoshida Campus, but these contents are distributed to Katsura Campus, Mahidol University (Thailand), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam), and students there can also give their presentations on the sites.

環境学を学び，問題解決を実践するための環境リーダーとしてのあり方・考え方の構築を目的とするもので，国際環境プロジェクト等に関する講義を中心に構成する。本講義は英語で実施される。なお、本講義は吉田キャンパスで実施されるが、桂キャンパス他、マヒドン大学（タイ）、ハノイ理工科大学（ベトナム）にも配信され、またその学生発表ではそれらの遠隔サイトからの学生の発表がある。
Course Goals This lecture course intends to foster students to be leaders who can solve environmental problems practically, and the students are expected to adsorb lecture contents as their own experience. For this purpose, the students are encouraged to conduct self-study for following up each lecture's contents, and requested to enhance their capabilities by preparation of students preparations on issues related to environmental leaders.

受講者が将来、種々の環境問題を実践的に解決できるリーダーとなるため、講義内容を自らの疑似体験として消化する。そのため、講義内容のフォローアップを自ら行うとともに、それに基づく発表でその能力が涵養されるように設計している。これにより、リーダーとして必要なマネジメント力を習得する。
Schedule and Contents No.1 (April 14) Guidance and "Ensuring safe drinking water" (Shinya Echigo)
Water is a basic element in human life, and ensuring safe drinking water and improved sanitation facilities is one of the UN SDGs. In this lecture, we will focus on the safety of drinking water and learn about the framework to ensure it.
No. 2 (April 21)
"Sustainable Development in Tropical Rain Forest: Activity Report from Cameroon" (Shinya Funakawa)
It is essential to achieve both the natural resources conservation and agricultural development in rural society at the same time when we consider future strategy for utilizing tropical rain forest. In this class, one of such trials is introduced.
No.3 (April 28) "Waste Problems and International Cooperation" (Misuzu Asari)
The current situation of global waste problems is surveyed. Additionally, the case studies of international cooperation in this field in Asia-Pacific region will be shown and discussed.
No. 4 (May 12) "Global Environmental Changes and Health" (Hirohisa Takano)
Global environmental changes can affect health and diseases. You will learn about the health effects of a variety of environmental factors related to global environmental changes.
No. 5 (May 19) "Domestic Wastewater Treatment Technology and Management" (Suwanna Boontanon)
Water pollution is a major environmental concern and has multiple negative effects on public health and livelihoods. The water quality of rivers can range from low to extremely low. This lecture will present the current situation of domestic wastewater treatment technology and management in developing countries. Additionally, lessons learned from Thailand’s case study and its key challenges on centralized, cluster, and on-site domestic treatment systems and management will be highlighted.
No. 6 (May 26) "Energy and Environment" (Seiichi Ogata)
The issues of the energy supply and demand are discussed from the perspectives of systems study and the local community. The history and current situations are explained as well as the ways of thinking for energy and environmental policies.
No. 7 (June 2) "Student Presentations and Discussions" (All)
Students give presentations on topics related to the above contents, and discuss them each other.

第１回 (4/14)　ガイダンスおよび水の安全性確保（越後信哉）
　水は人の生活上基本要素であり、安全な飲料水の確保や基礎的衛生施設の確保は、SDGsの1つである。本講では、水の安全性確保に焦点をあてその枠組みについて学ぶ。
第２回 (4/21)　熱帯雨林における持続的な開発：カメルーンからの報告（舟川晋也）
　熱帯雨林を将来的にどのように利用していくか考える際、自然資源の保全と地域社会の農業開発を同時に成し遂げることが必要である。本講義では、カメルーン熱帯林におけるそのような試みを紹介する。
第３回 (4/28)　廃棄物問題と国際協力（浅利美鈴）
世界の廃棄物問題の実態を概観すると同時に、アジア太平洋諸国における事例を交えて廃棄物管理に関する国際協力について学び、議論する。　
第４回 (5/12)　地球環境の変化と健康（高野裕久）
　地球環境の変化は、ヒトの健康や疾病構造に変化を与えうる。種々の環境要因が健康や疾患に及ぼす影響について学ぶ。
第５回 (5/19)　タイにおける家庭廃水の処理技術と管理（Suwanna Boontanon）
水質汚染は環境問題の大きなテーマであり、公衆衛生や生活に複数の悪影響を及ぼしている。河川の水質は、極端に低くなる場合がある。本講演では、開発途上国における生活排水処理技術と管理の現状を紹介する。さらに、タイの事例から学んだ教訓と、集中処理、クラスター処理、オンサイト処理の家庭排水処理システムと管理に関する主要な課題を取り上げる。
第６回 (5/26)　エネルギーと環境 (尾形清一)
　エネルギー需給の問題をシステム研究と地域社会の視点から論じる。この問題の歴史と現状を概観し、エネルギー・環境政策の考え方について解説する。
第７回(6/2)　発表・討論（全員）　　
　第１回～６回の内容を参考に学生による発表とその質疑・討論を行う。

オンラインで実施することがあるため、KULASIS、PandA等で確認すること.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Positive participation and attendance (40%), and presentations (60%) are evaluated. Each student is required to make an English presentation related to the lecture contents involving his/her investigation and discussions. Students are evaluated according to the grade evaluation criteria of GSGES.
受講態度における積極性（40％）と発表（60％）により総合評価する。発表については、講義を受けた後に自ら関連する内容についての知見を深めたものであることを要件とする。到達目標について、地球環境学舎の成績評価基準に従って評価する。

最終発表のため、各授業の発展的調査を必要とする。
