Outline and Purpose of the Course This class gives participants the principle of photon and quantum energy radiations including their functions, interaction between materials, and their advanced applications.
Course Goals The goal of this class is that the participants can learn about basic knowledge of photon and quantum energy radiations, and plan to utilize them into their own research interest.
Schedule and Contents 1. Fundamentals and Applications of Photon and Materials Science : 6-7
lectures, given by Prof. Miyauchi
Lectures on the basic physics of photon and materials respectively and
their interactions, which are necessary to understand the principles
of photon energy conversion devices such as solar cells. Based on this
basic knowledge, the principle efficiency of solar energy conversion
will be discussed. In addition, quantum properties of nanoscale
materials and their energy applications will be introduced as an
advanced topic.

2. Principle and application of accelerator and synchrotron radiation: 6-7 classes given by Prof. Ohgaki
Lectures on the fundamental knowledge of particle accelerators, synchrotron radiations and free electron lasers. Application of the high brightness electron beam and the quantum radiation beam will be introduced.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluated by the class participation and home works
Course Requirements None
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Participants have to read the class materials before the class.
Textbooks Textbooks/References Class materials will be delivered by KULASIS
