Outline and Purpose of the Course New regulations related to NPP (Nuclear Power Plant) have been issued since an accident of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station caused by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 11 2011.
Electric power companies have progressed safety enhancement of NPP along it.
Using case of BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) plant, techniques and experiences regarding to NPP are explained in this lecture; plant system design, nuclear plant construction, plant operation and maintenance, and safety enhancement.
Furthermore, fuel cycle and application of nuclear accelerator is introduced in this lecture.
Course Goals To understand techniques and experiences regarding to NPP; plant system design, nuclear plant construction, plant operation and maintenance, and safety enhancement.
Schedule and Contents Course schedule is as follows basically, but the order and contents of lecture will be change for certain reasons.
1. Power generation system by NPP (4 lectures)
Items in this session are; Plant system, Safety design, Reactor core and fuel design, Operation control, Instrumentation system, Safety enhancement.
2. Components design, Manufacture and Construction(4 lectures)
Items in this session are; Aseismic design, Logic of components design and manufacture, Design standards, Experiences of main component development, FEM application to design and construction.
3. Maintenance (3 lectures)
Items in this session are; Aging mechanism, Measurements for aging, Inspection and evaluation techniques, Preventive maintenance techniques, Outage, Regulation related to maintenance.
4. NPP techniques application (3 lectures)
Items in this session are; Fast breeder reactor, Fuel cycle, Application of nuclear accelerator, Research and Development related to NPP.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Achievement will be graded based on the reports (2 times) and attendance.
