Outline and Purpose of the Course The purpose of this class is to divide students into small groups to examine and analyze materials and data. The areas of analysis are macroeconomics and microeconomics. In each of these areas, the groups will conduct their own research tasks and present the results to everyone.
Course Goals By completing this course, students will learn how to
・find necessary materials and statistical data,
・use Excel and calculation software to perform analysis of materials and statistical data as well as simulations,
・perform tasks while cooperating in small groups, and
・report on the tasks completed together in small groups.
Schedule and Contents All students will attend the first class and the final class together. Aside from this, students will be divided into two large groups, and these large groups will attend two sessions in turn (in no particular order). In each session, students will be divided into small groups of about 3-4 people to perform the set tasks.

The two sessions and their content are as follows:
Macroeconomics: Performing finance tasks that require data analysis and numerical calculations.
Microeconomics: Collecting and analyzing microdata, mainly using Excel.

The classes follow the following schedule.

Class 1 Orientation for all students
Classes 2-13 Two sessions (each consisting of 6 weeks of classes) conducted for large group-units

Week 1: Purpose and description of each session, assignment of Task 1 (Homework 1)
Week 2: Review and discussion of the results of Task 1, assignment of Task 2 (Homework 2)
Week 3: Review and discussion of the results of Task 2, assignment of Task 3 (Homework 3)
Week 4: Review and discussion of the results of Task 3, assignment of Task 4 (Homework 4)
Week 5: Review and discussion of the results of Task 4, preparation for the presentation based on Tasks 1 through 4
Week 6: Presentation of the results of the analyses and discussion

Class 14 Presentations conducted for the whole class by one small group from each session
Class 15 Feedback
Evaluation Methods and Policy The grades will be reported as raw scores on a scale of 100 points.
Evaluation methods and weights: class participation including attendance (30%), task performance (40%), small group presentation (30%)
Course Requirements Please take Statistical Data Analysis, Basic A or B (acquisition of credits is not a requirement).
This class is mandatory for students in the Professional Career Program.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Outside of class hours, members of each small group should cooperate and prepare for the next class by performing the tasks set in the previous class.
