Outline and Purpose of the Course |
This course will examine econometrics approaches?including the latest developments?used in empirical research in microeconomics. The course will introduce case studies for analysis and discuss the strengths and limitations of the above approaches. Participants' focus for the course will be on broadening their perspectives on microeconometrics and on utilizing the techniques and approaches they have learned to acquire the skills to conduct real-world analysis. |

Schedule and Contents |
The primary topics scheduled for discussion are below. However, the content may change to reflect participants' wishes. _x005F_x000D_ _x005F_x000D_ (1) Nonparametric and semiparametric estimation_x005F_x000D_ (2) Estimating average treatment effects_x005F_x000D_ (3) Structural estimation (particularly lectures based on the discrete choice model) _x005F_x000D_ _x005F_x000D_ Techniques are explained in lecture format; participants are then expected to express opinions on related literature. |
Evaluation Methods and Policy |
Grading will be based on presentations made throughout the course and the end-of-term report. As per the current schedule, each participant is required to give at least one presentation (though this may change based on the number of participants). |

A basic knowledge of microeconomics and econometrics is a prerequisite. |
