Outline and Purpose of the Course This course provides an overview of forest policies in developing countries based on some cases together with exercises of forest statistical data processing.
Course Goals Participants are expected to acquire basic statistical literacy and knowledge regarding the forest resource trends and forest regimes in developing countries.
Schedule and Contents 1. How to understand the increasingly diversified world? (L: 1 class)
2. Income group categories and climate domains (L: 1 class)
3. Forest gain countries and forest loss countries (E: 1 class)
4. Forest production and trade (E: 1 class)
5. Forestland ownership and forest management entities (L: 1 class)
6. Comparison of forest regimes in developing countries (L: 1 class)
7. Policy and planning for forest conservation (L/E: 1 class)
8. Discussion and feedback(1 class)

Two-day intensive course will be held on January 28 and 29.
Evaluation Methods and Policy The grades will be determined based on participation (50%) and presentations (50%).
Course Requirements It is required to bring a notebook computer for the exercise.
