Outline and Purpose of the Course The developments of high performance nanocomposites based on cellulose nanofibers and chitin nanofibers are discussed.
Course Goals Explaining the importance of cellulose and chitin nanomaterials in maintaining sustainable humanosphere with relation to students' own research topics.
# Having the ability to prepare a report in a logically correct way.
Schedule and Contents The following topics are lectured. Each topic consists of 3-5 classes (weeks).

# Isolation and characterization of cellulose nanofibers and chitin nanofibers from various bio resources

# Chemical and physical modification of cellulose nanofibers

# Production of cellulose nanofibers-based materials and evaluation of their performances
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation is made by a mark given for class participation and report.
Course Requirements None (Basic knowledge on wood anatomy, wood chemistry, wood physics, polymer science and bio-based materials are useful to take the class)
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Studying fundamental knowledge on composites, nanocomposites, polymer and wood.
