Outline and Purpose of the Course Student will learn about conenmporaly problems of wildlife conservation and management in Japan. The process of solution of wildlife issues will be discussed icluding the background of the problems.
Course Goals Understanding difficulties in realizing the optimal solution in wildlife conservation.
For example, specific understanding in the problems of the population control.
Understanding specific problems in conserving wildlife that current laws and institutions have.
For example, understand the problems about hunting systems in Japan.
Schedule and Contents Conceptual issues for wildlife conservation
History of hunting system in Japan
Comparison of huntingsystem of Japan and Germany
Several problems and difficulties in population control
Wildlife and society
Managing wildlife damages on forestry and forest
Other issues may be added as necessary.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Scored by reports on the issues related to the topics discussed in the course.

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students are required to write repors about a given theam until the next lecture. Students are also required to contribute to some public comments about policy on wildlife or nature at that time.
