Course Goals The objective of this seminar is to study past research and knowledge that relates to each student's own research subject. This is designed to help students conduct their research work.
Schedule and Contents Seven to eight seminars will focus on each of the following topics:

1. Soil management in regard to the agricultural practices applied in tropical and arid regions.

In order to determine suitable sustainable-agriculture methods, discussions will be held concerning the conditions that constrain the agricultural practices and soil management of tropical and arid regions.

2. Methodology of analyses on soil minerals and organic matter

Different approaches to the analysis of soil minerals and organic matter will be discussed together with the factors affecting the nature of these materials.

3. Nutrient dynamics in the root zones of plants

The process of nutrient supply from soils and plant uptake will be discussed based on analytical data.

4. Utilization of soil and environmental information

The methodology for analyzing the spatiotemporal variation of soil properties as well as environmental parameters are discussed.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluated is based on attendance as well as participation in discussions. Refer to the 'Guide to Degree Programs' at corresponding academic year for a description of evaluation levels.
