Outline and Purpose of the Course In this seminar, students will read recent papers related to biochemistry and life science. To enhance their scientific knowledge and presentation skill, they will introduce the contents of papers and make free discussions each other .
Course Goals By learning the most current trends in research, students will build the aptitude and logical reasoning skills necessary to pursue originality in their research and develop the skills needed to conduct their research.
Schedule and Contents Sessions 1 to 30: Students will be asked to read recently published academic papers on marine bioproducts technology, marine biochemistry or other related fields such as cell chemistry and molecular biology, and discuss them in class. The experience of summarizing and presenting the research papers will provide students with an opportunity to further develop their presentation skills. Students will also gain an understanding of the advanced methodologies required to make progress in research, such as how to prepare research plans, develop experimental techniques, and examine experiment results. Evaluation Methods and Policy Grading will be based on an overall assessment of the student’s understanding of research papers and technical books, presentation skills, and attendance. Refer to '2016 Guide to Degree Programs' for attainment levels of evaluation.
Course Requirements None.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Look up information related to the research papers to be presented in class, and be prepared to give a brief explanation. Review concepts and points you had difficulty with during discussion to improve your understanding after class.
