Outline and Purpose of the Course Disciplinary subjects of experimental and survey methods which are necessary for research on ecological information will be provided. In addition, statistical and other methodology will be taught to support analyses of research results.
Course Goals Knowledge given in this course will help students for their development in technical kill and research planning. The knowledge may also contribute to their career development in future.
Schedule and Contents 1. How to observe small organisms: advanced course (about 5 times)
Using spider mites and natural enemies, observation and survey methods will be taught.
2. How to survey population dynamics: advanced course (about 5 times)
Using spider mites and natural enemies, laboratory experiments and field survey will be conducted to learn
the method of population fluctuations.
3. How to analyze interspecific relationships: advanced course (about 5 times)
Using spider mites and natural enemies, survey methods to know interactive factors existing between
species will be taught.
4. How to work on mechanisms of insecticide resistance and its evolutionary development: advanced course (about 5 times)
Using spider mites and natural enemies, experimental methods and analyses of results will be
taught on resistance development of pests.
5. How to analyze data and complete thesis reseqarch (about 5 times)
Statistical and model analyses will be taught.

Feedback: Occasionally feedback time of contents will be inserted during the semesters.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Performance in the course and attainment of contents will be used for evaluation.
Refer to 'Guide to Degree Programs' of the year for attainment levels of evaluation.
Course Requirements It is advisabale for students to take Seminar in Ecological Information 2 in addition to this course.
