Outline and Purpose of the Course The objective of this course is to help students achieve basic knowledge, logical mind, and scientific literacy needed for scientific research through reading, presentation, and debating about the latest papers concerning molecular biology, cell biology, and molecular enzymology of microorganisms. This course also aims to develop a healthy critical spirit.
Course Goals Understanding the data shown in papers accurately, presenting them appropriately. Evaluating his/her own data objectively, developing his/her presentation skills.
Schedule and Contents Exercise of journal club
This exercise aims at learning the latest experimental techniques and knowledge through presentation and debating the papers published in the scientific journals to allow students to develop consciousness as an objective scientific observer.

Exercise of progress report
This exercise aims at development of a healthy critical spirit, and learning the path to the goal of his/her research objective through presentation and debating the results of his/her experiment.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Grades will be based on the number of attendance and presentation.

Course Requirements Students are required to prepare and review the basic understanding of biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology in undergraduate level.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Reading the related papers, understanding the background of research.
Reflecting the opinions given in discussion to his/her own research project.
