Outline and Purpose of the Course | We will learn basic experimental techniques and attitude through the biorational design-syntheses, mode of action study, and structure-activity relationship of biologically active chemicals.
Course Goals | We will learn basic experimental techniques and attitude through the biorational design-syntheses, mode of action study, and structure-activity relationship of biologically active chemicals.
Schedule and Contents |
There are a variety of biologically active compounds which regulate the bioenergetic systems such as mitochondrial respiratory enzymes and transporters. This course addresses the design syntheses and the action mechanisms of such chemicals synthesized in our laboratory. In particular, we will focus a close relationship between organic chemistry and biology activity. Main synthetic targets will be: 1) Quinone derivatives 2) Cardiolipins (a unique phopspholipid) 3) Acetogenins and quinazoline, inhibitors of respiratyory complex I |
