Outline and Purpose of the Course Through the presentation of scientific articles and the reading in turns of specialized books, we aim to acquire the knowledge of the basic theories about the sustainable advance in the local agriculture in harmony with natural environment and to deepen our understanding about the subject researches with deep discussions and the presentations about the subject researches.
Course Goals ?Be able to understand the current developments in research and read previous studies critically;
?Acquire the skills needed to pursue originality and pay attention to the key components of a research paper, including logic, structure, and style;
?Acquire a wide variety of accurate knowledge of plant production systems and master the techniques to discover new findings and present them in a logical manner.
Schedule and Contents Individual instruction will be provided to guide students on how to select research topics, collect and critique previous studies, examine research methods, conduct literature surveys, read and understand research documents, write a research paper, and conduct other aspects of the research process, according to the student’s progress in his/her Master’s thesis. Instruction will be optimized according to the student’s research theme.
15 classes are planned for each of the topics below, or a total of 30 classes throughout the year. One class will be set aside for feedback.

1. Introduction of academic papers
Students will peruse the research papers related to plant production systems they have selected, prepare presentation materials, and distribute them to the instructor and other students in advance. Students will individually deliver an oral presentation using presentation materials and PowerPoint slides, and answer questions from other participants in a Q&A session.

2. Report of research project
3. Each student will deliver an oral presentation on the plans, interim results, and outcomes of his/her research project using presentation materials and PowerPoint slides, and answer questions from other participants in a Q&A session. The presenter must distribute presentation materials to the instructor and other students in advance.
Evaluation Methods and Policy  Grading will be based on a comprehensive assessment of criteria such as attendance, the quality of presentation, contribution to class discussions, and commitment to projects.
Course Requirements Background knowledge: Plant Production Systems I, Plant Production Systems II
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Preview presentation materials distributed in advance, and review materials assigned in class.
