Outline and Purpose of the Course In this experimental course, students will learn basic techniques in the field of plant metabolic science, including basic organic synthesis, enzyme chemistry, molecular biology and omics science through experimental research works.
Course Goals In this experimental course, students will learn the up-to-date techniques in the field of plant metabolic science, especially in relation to organic chemistry, biochemistry, and metabolic engineering.
Schedule and Contents Plant biotechnology
Students will learn basic experimental techniques for plant tissue culture, transformation, and regeneration, which are indispensable for plant metabolic sciences.

Organic chemistry of secondary metabolisms
Students will learn basic experimental techniques for organic synthesis, organic analysis, and metabolomics, which are indispensable for plant metabolic sciences.

Molecular biology and metabolic control in plant secondary metabolism
Students will learn basic experimental techniques for molecular biology including gene cloning, gene functional analysis, and informatics such as gene co-expression network analysis.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Refer to current year's 'Guide to Degree Programs' for attainment levels of evaluation.
Course Requirements Knowledge of fundamental organic chemistry, biochemistry, plant molecular biology, and plant secondary metabolism.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) To be instructed at the course.
