Outline and Purpose of the Course | The developments of high performance nanocomposites based on cellulose nanofibers and chitin nanofibers, the physical properties of wood and temperature and humidity environment of wooden buildings, and the molecular design of polymers having high functionality are discussed. | ||

Learning the up-dated knowledges on wood-based materials and cellulose nanomaterials, and discussing the future perspectives. # Learning the state-of-art bio-based nanomaterials. |

Schedule and Contents |
The following topics are lectured. Each topic consists of 3-5 classes (weeks). # Isolation and characterization of cellulose nanofibers and chitin nanofibers from various bio resources # Chemical and physical modification of cellulose nanofibers # Production of cellulose nanofibers-based materials and evaluation of their performances # The physical properties of wood and wood-based materials under stable and unstable conditions # Temperature and humidity environment of wooden buildings # Molecular design of polymers having high functionality |
