Outline and Purpose of the Course | This course will be student-driven, seminar-based discussions with faculty members as facilitators of this discussion. We will cover the literature and technical approaches in insect behavioral physiology. | ||
Course Goals | Acquire the basic knowledge and logical reasoning ability needed to conduct research on insect behavior and physiology. | ||
Schedule and Contents |
Introduction of research papers (20 sessions) Each student will select and read important scholarly papers on insect behavioral physiology with a focus on original research papers and review articles, and introduce and discuss them with class. Presentations of research outcomes (10 sessions) Students will give a presentation on their experimental research, and learn the process of conducting research?from planning to presentation?through class discussions. Each faculty member will supervise and advise the students through the research process. |

Evaluation Methods and Policy | Evaluation will be based on an overall assessment of the content of presentation and commitment to projects (60%) and attendance (40%). | ||
Course Requirements | No background knowledge is required. | ||
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) | Students must preview the presentation materials to be discussed in the next class so that they are ready to participate in class discussion. |
