Outline and Purpose of the Course This course will be student-driven, seminar-based discussions with faculty members as facilitators of this discussion. We will cover the literature and technical approaches in insect behavioral physiology.
Course Goals Acquire the basic knowledge and logical reasoning ability needed to conduct research on insect behavior and physiology.
Schedule and Contents Introduction of research papers (20 sessions)
 Each student will select and read important scholarly papers on insect behavioral physiology with a focus on original research papers and review articles, and introduce and discuss them with class.
Presentations of research outcomes (10 sessions)
 Students will give a presentation on their experimental research, and learn the process of conducting research?from planning to presentation?through class discussions.
Each faculty member will supervise and advise the students through the research process.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be based on an overall assessment of the content of presentation and commitment to projects (60%) and attendance (40%).
Course Requirements No background knowledge is required.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students must preview the presentation materials to be discussed in the next class so that they are ready to participate in class discussion.
