Outline and Purpose of the Course | Laboratory work on a specialized subject related to chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology of organic compounds with bioregulatory functions, to study the methodology in advancing the researches in the field of drug discovery/development.
Course Goals | To master the skilled experimental methods and techniques required for the researches of bioregulation chemistry
Schedule and Contents |
Each student is assigned to one of the following subjects: 1. Molecular target of defense-inducing elicitor peptides in plants 2. Structure analysis of biologically-active peptides using mass spectrometric techniques 3. Search for new insect growth regulators 4. Application of cell penetrating peptides to modulate plant functions |
||
Evaluation Methods and Policy | The obtained data will provide the basis for writing the thesis. Logical design of experiments and the level of discussion deduced from the obtained data are evaluated.
Course Requirements | Basic knowledge of organic chemsitry, biochemistry, plant physiology, entomology, physical chemistry and pesticide chemistry is required.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) | Constant surveillance of related research papers is required to update the information on new experimental methods and techniques as well as to apply them to obtain new findings about each thesis subject. |
