Outline and Purpose of the Course The aim of this advanced course is to expand views of students on plant pathology during discussion about topics and issues presented by the lecturers who will be invited to the course.
Course Goals The goal of this advanced course is to expand views of students on plant pathology during discussion about topics and issues presented by the lecturers who work in the fields different from those targeted in the Plant Pathology lab, Kyoto University.
Schedule and Contents The lecturers will be selected mainly from the alumni of the Plant Pathology lab, Kyoto University, who are retired professors and active researchers in the fields of plant pathology. The lectures will cover a range of topics from frontier biological sciences to practical crop protection technology in plant pathology.

01st-02nd: History of plant pathology
03rd-04th: Topics on phytopathogenic viruses
05th-06th: Topics on phytopathogenic bacteria
07th-08th: Topics on phytopathogenic fungi
09th-10th: Topics on plant resistance against pathogens (I)
11th-12th: Topics on plant resistance against pathogens (II)
13th-14th: Topics on control of plant diseases
15th: Feedback
Evaluation Methods and Policy Refer to current year's 'Guide to Degree Programs' for attainment levels of evaluation.
An overall evaluation will be decided with aids such as class attendance and participation, and short tests after the lectures.
