Outline and Purpose of the Course Microorganisms are always encountering diverse stresses, although they survive using their deft abilities. Yeasts are equipped with complicated systems, which are similar to higher eukaryotes, to respond endogenous metabolic stress as well as extracellular stress. In the lecture of Cellular Bioenergy Conversion, we will introduce the excellent cellular system of microorganisms for survival under serious conditions.
Course Goals Students will enhance their understanding of the functions of cellular signaling systems and the response mechanisms to metabolic stress related to biological defense.
Schedule and Contents Topics covered include the following:
1. Mechanisms of response to metabolic stress; molecular mechanism of stress response; molecular mechanism and physiological significance of signal transduction.
2. The course will be delivered on two days on two Mondays from 3rd to 6th period.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Grading will be based on an overall assessment of attendance and short reports.
Refer to the latest 'Guide to Degree Programs' for attainment levels of evaluation.
Course Requirements Basic undergraduate-level knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students are expected to read relevant publications.
