Outline and Purpose of the Course Various biologically active compounds are produced by organisms. These compounds have important functions in controlling growth and differentiation, environmental responses and interaction with other organisms. In this lecture, students will learn plant hormones among various biologically active molecules.
Course Goals This course will provide the research history of plant hormones. Students will learn how chemistry and biology have been effectively combined to understand the molecular action of plant hormones.
Schedule and Contents Day 1
-Introduction of plant hormones: how do plant hormones contribute to our life?
-Biosynthesis of plant hormones and its regulation.
-Inactivation of plant hormones and its regulation.

Day 2
-Perception of plant hormones.
-Signal transduction of plant hormones.
Evaluation Methods and Policy Active participation in the class (50%)
Report (50%)
Refer to current year's 'Guide to Degree Programs' for attainment levels of evaluation.
Course Requirements Basic knowledge of organic chemistry is required. Students are expected to be interested in biology also.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students are expected to actively study after the class and write a report.
