Outline and Purpose of the Course |
The contribution of animal science to livestock production is meager. This title aims to match ruminant production systems with available resources especially in tropics, subtropics and semi-arid areas. |
Course Goals |
Understand the basic concepts related to livestock and feedstock production. |
Schedule and Contents |
About 3 lectures and seminars are planned for each of the following topics: 1. Grassland and livestock production in various climate zones; 2. Functions of rumen and use of nutrients; 3. Use and quality improvement of coarse feed; 4. Supplementary feed and additives and their effects; 5. Relationship between livestock rearing management and their growth, fattening, reproduction, lactation, and calf production. |
Evaluation Methods and Policy |
Evaluation will be based on attendance and commitment to projects. |
Course Requirements |
Basic understanding of feedstock science and nutritional science is desirable. |
