Outline and Purpose of the Course We will be deepening our understanding of economics from the introductory to intermediate levels primarily through exercise problems. Furthermore, we will be attempting to analyze various real- world problems by applying techniques from microeconomics.
Course Goals In this class, we will be attempting to understand various theoretical models in microeconomics. We aim for students to obtain the necessary knowledge to solve exercises at introductory and intermediate levels.
Schedule and Contents During each seminar, each participant will be taking turns in reading out a section of a text on a pre-specified topic, and taking part in solving exercises. Each session, one student will be designated to explain the exercises and lead the group in discussion.
We will proceed according to the following schedule:

Session 1. Orientation
Session 2-14. Working through Chapters 1-9 of the textbook, once or possibly twice
I will be informing students about the methods for feedback at a later date.
Evaluation Methods and Policy I plan on evaluating grades based on the following elements: Commentary on practice problems (50%), end of semester report (30%), and class performance (20%).
Course Requirements Students should have a desire to learn, and be prepared to actively participate in class. Please note that students who wish to attend this class must sign up for both the first and second semesters.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) For the topics covered in each class, students are expected to read the textbook and solve the exercises themselves before attending class.
