Outline and Purpose of the Course | In this seminar, we consider corporate strategy and corporate governance to increase understanding of corporate management as an issue. We consider this in a systematic and concrete manner, from the theoretical bases to the practical application thereof. | |||
Course Goals | To nurture human resources with a global mindset and have an international perspective, we will provide seminars on management strategies and corporate governance including both Japanese and overseas companies. | |||
Schedule and Contents |
We will systematically consider the theory and analysis tools related to corporate management from Michael Porter's Approach, which is the core framework of business strategy, and apply it to the economics of internal resources. In addition, we will discuss the actual problems of corporate governance while comparing Japanese and overseas companies. More generally, by learning the theoretical basis for considering the economic organization of a company, we will consider the practical issues surrounding modern Japanese and overseas companies. In this general task, the specific content of the seminar will be decided in consultation with the students, andt I hope you will participate with a proactive interest in corporate management. In this direction, seminar students are free to choose topics, conduct research in groups or individually, and give presentations during the seminar time. In addition, we will read casefiles from a real-life company created by Harvard Business School to bridge the gap between university-studied and real-life companies.
