Outline and Purpose of the Course	Read the literature on theoretical and empirical analyses of political economy and macroeconomics, in particular the "economic growth" of various schools, and deeply understand the content through discussions. In addition, you will write a paper based on these contents.
Course Goals	The goal is to gain a full understanding of the basics of political economy and macroeconomics, to acquire a broad perspective of economic growth theory, and to cultivate the ability to analyze the real economy through the writing of seminar papers and graduation papers.
Schedule and Contents	Read the literature in groups, discuss the content, and write a seminar paper. The literature to be used will be decided in consultation with the participants of the seminar. In 2021, the following documents were studied: ・ Charles Jones (2020) Macroeconomics, W W Norton & Co Inc. ・ Akihiko Yanase (2004) "Intersectoral Income Disparity and Economic Growth," Journal of Takasaki City University of Economics 46 (4), pp. 93-103. ・ Marc Lavoie (2007) Introduction to Post-Keynesian Economics, Palgrave Macmillan. ・ Lance Taylor (2014) "The Triumph of the Rentier? Thomas Piketty vs. Luigi Pasinetti and John Maynard Keynes," International Journal of Political Economy 43 (3), pp. 4-17. In the first half of the term, we will read the literature in groups. In the second half, we will prepare a seminar paper, participate in inter seminars with other universities, and report on the research of the seminar paper. Session 1: Orientation Sessions 2-14: Reading of the literature on political economy, macroeconomics, and economic growth Session 15: Feedback Second and third-year students are required to write a seminar paper (joint research). Fourth-year students are not required to submit a graduation paper, but it is recommended. However, those who wish to go on to graduate school are required to submit a graduation paper.
Evaluation Methods and Policy	[Evaluation method] Evaluation is based on participation points (50%) and seminar papers (50%).
Course Requirements	Basic knowledge of political economy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and mathematics for economics.
