Outline and Purpose of the Course	In this seminar, we will be building upon the contents of the first semester, examining the various aspects of Chinese economic reform and the hindrances to its economic growth from the perspective of theory and policy, as well as actual conditions.
Course Goals	Students will be able to learn about the theoretical background behind China’s economic reforms.
Schedule and Contents	1. Raising Problems Related to Reform 2. Changes in China’s Reform Strategy 3. Agricultural Reform 4. Enterprise Reform 5. The Development of the Private Economy 6. The Reform of the Banking System and the Development of the Securities Market 7. National Finance Tax System Reform 8. Opening up to Outside Markets 9. Social Security System Provisions 10. Macroeconomic Policy in a Time of Transition 11. Transitional Period Social Relations and Governmental Functions 12. The Chinese Economy and the World Economy 13. The Various Problems of the Chinese Economy
Evaluation Methods and Policy	Overall evaluation will be made based on individual reports, attitude during class, etc.
Course Requirements	A desire to learn. Prior completion of units in microeconomics and macroeconomics, or simultaneous enrollment in these units.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review)	Instructions will be given during the initial seminar.
