Outline and Purpose of the Course	The Introductory Seminar is a small-group seminar-style class designed to help first-year students adjust smoothly from high school to university education. The aim common to all classes is for students to acquire academic skills and understand research ethics necessary for study and research at university. On top of that, they will be introduced to university-level economics and business administration according to the specialty of the instructor.
Course Goals	- To acquire the academic skills and research ethics required for study and research at university. - To learn how to write reports and academic papers. - To understand basic knowledge and concepts of economics/ business administration
Schedule and Contents	In the first week, there will be a briefing on how to proceed, an explanation of the textbook, and self-introduction by the participants, so be sure to attend. The common themes for each class are as follows. The following topics will be covered in two or three weeks out of the 15 sessions. - How to write reports and academic papers - Presentation and discussion techniques - Research ethics: the problem of plagiarism - Library guidance, literature search, and statistical data acquisition This is followed by an introduction to economics and business administration by each teacher. Submission of the final report is mandatory, and the 15th session will be feedback to the final report. A more detailed explanation will be given at the orientation after the entrance ceremony. Class assignments and seminar rooms will be announced before the start of the course, so please follow the instructions.
Evaluation Methods and Policy	70 points for class participation (class attendance, presentation/participation in class, etc.), and 30 points for the final report. Submission of the final report is a requirement for earning the credit.
