Outline and Purpose of the Course "Industrial Organization" is an applied field of microeconomics that analyzes the decision making of companies involved in production, distribution, and sales. For this purpose, it is also necessary to analyze the demand faced by companies, that is, consumer behavior. Corporate decision making is also affected by various policies and regulations, including competition policies. The goal of this course is for students to acquire standard knowledge of industrial organization such as the relationship between corporate behavior and the market environment including demand, and the relationship between corporate behavior and related government policies/regulations. In addition to theories, the course plans to cover specific cases and the latest empirical analyses.
Course Goals ・ To improve the ability to apply microeconomics to real-life cases
・ To deepen the theoretical understanding of corporate decision making in the imperfect competition market
・ To be able to discuss economically the impact of actual policies and regulations on corporate behavior
