Outline and Purpose of the Course	The aim of this course is for students to acquire the ability to understand and practice decision making in the problem-solving process. Through lectures and exercises, students will learn representative methodologies for each representative approach to decision making, with the aim to acquire basic knowledge about decision-making and improve their decision-making ability.
Course Goals	To improve information processing ability (decision making) in a broad sense by understanding the outline of each of 6 typical approaches to decision making and learning the basic or typical methods.
Schedule and Contents	Each of the following 6 typical decision-making approaches will be taught for a total of 15 weeks with 2 or 3 lectures and exercises per theme. I. Economic approach (microeconomics, utility theory, game theory) II. Organizational approach (Barnard-Simon theory of organizational equilibrium, bounded rationality, the model of economic man and administrative man) III. Decision-theoretical approach (decision-making under uncertainty, risk-based decision-making, Bayesian decision theory) Ⅳ. Management science approach (operations research (mainly mathematical programming and its applications), optimization (mathematical) models) V. Systems analysis approach (system approach, multi-criteria decision-making, analytic hierarchy process (AHP), data envelopment analysis (DEA)) VI. Behavioral science approach (behavioral decision-making theory, prospect theory, behavioral game theory)
Evaluation Methods and Policy	The following methods will be used to check whether students have acquired basic knowledge regarding decision making and their ability of decision making. The degree of participation in cycles consisting of preparation reports, question reports, and exercises (70%) + final report (30%). The final report may be changed to an exam.
Course Requirements	From the list of introductory courses, students must have completed "Introduction to Microeconomics" and "Introduction to Management." In addition, students must have completed a liberal arts mathematics course or similar from the Faculty of Economics, and have basic computer literacy.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review)	Lectures and exercises will be conducted according to the following procedure. Students will prepare their own preparation reports for each representative decision-making approach by referring to the reading material distributed in advance. Based on each student's preparation report, lectures will be delivered on unclear topics. Students will prepare a question report if they have any question after taking the lecture. The answers will be given in the next lecture. For each approach, students will work on exercises to deepen their understanding. These preparation reports, question reports, and exercises will be combined into one cycle, and this cycle (about 6 times in the schedule) will be implemented for each approach.
