Outline and Purpose of the Course The course covers the basics of microeconomics, in general, such as economic thinking, behavior of consumers and producers, and functions of markets for first-time students of microeconomics. This course not only serves as a bridge to "Microeconomics 1" and "Microeconomics 2" to learn about the advanced contents of microeconomics, but also provides basic knowledge for studying a wide range of specialized fields including international economics, industrial organization, public economics, urban and regional economics, labor economics, finance, and behavioral economics. Therefore, it is an essential subject for students of economics to adopt as a initial, foundational course.
Course Goals ・Understanding the basic contents of microeconomics and methods of theoretical analysis.
・Acquiring basic knowledge required for studying applied fields of microeconomics.
・Economic consideration of real economic issues.

Week 10: Companies and Production Costs in Competitive Markets
Week 11: Monopoly and Monopoly Competition
Week 12: Oligopoly
Week 13: Economics of the Labor Market
Week 14: Advanced Topics
Week 15: Semester Exam

Evaluation Methods and Policy Evaluation will be based on quizzes (20%), e-learning status (10%), and final examination (70%).

Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Students are required to read the relevant chapters of the text before class, work on e-learning, and review/application of textbook problems after class.
In addition to attending classes, working on these out-of-class lessons will deepen understanding of the content and increase interest in economics.
