| Outline and Purpose of the Course | In order to sustainably utilize forest resources, which are renewable, it is essential to develop infrastructure, such as the road network. However, construction work, such as building a road network, comes with a maintenance/management cost, in addition to the development cost, and there is a risk of collapse. In this course, lectures on the systems, planning, design, and construction of forest roads, forestry-dedicated roads, and forest work roads will be delivered, with some seminars. The course also provides comments on Cable logging systems. | |||
| Course Goals | To acquire the knowledge and skills to plan and design road networks that take economy, environment, and society into account, and to develop the ability to draft an infrastructure development plan and a resource utilization plan in order to sustainably use forest resources in diverse forests while making the most of their characteristics. | |||

| Evaluation Methods and Policy |
【Assessment method】 Assessment is based on the report mark (70%) and attitude (30%) A report will be assigned when all the lectures have been completed. Attitude is assessed based on attendance and the mini reports that are assigned in every other lecture. 【Assessment criteria】 Assessment criteria and policy draw from the 'Assessment criteria and policy' found in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook. |
