Outline and Purpose of the Course | Students will develop abilities to understand the English content of specialized fields through reading and listening. They will also develop their communication abilities to organize their opinions on the content obtained and convey them in English through presentations and Q&A sessions. Through these tasks, students will acquire basic knowledge for the English-based remote lecture Introduction to Foreign Literature on Bio-Systems Engineering to be held in the second semester with the National Taiwan University. | |||

* Learn how to structure and express texts and presentations in English through listening and reading in relevant specialized areas. * Be able to summarize the content and convey it in English, and develop basic abilities to have simple discussions in English. |

Evaluation Methods and Policy |
Grading method: Usual performance scores (40%), presentations (30%), and questions about presentations (30%). Usual performance scores will be evaluated mainly based on active participation to questions, comments, and discussion time after presentations given in the lecture. Presentations and questions about presentations will be evaluated based on the understanding of the content and whether the communication is occurring in English. Each item above also includes grading in group work. Grading criteria: Grading criteria and policies are based on the grading criteria and policies described in the Handbook of the Faculty of Agriculture for the applicable year. |

Preview: Read the lecture materials and presentation materials distributed in advance. The presenter should prepare the presentation materials and rehearse before presenting. Questionnaires should be prepared based on presentation materials. These previews should be thoroughly conducted individually and in groups. Review: Review thoroughly and use it for the next lecture or in Introduction to Foreign Literature on Bio-Systems Engineering, offered in the second semester. Also, actively find opportunities to make use of the content learned. |
