Outline and Purpose of the Course Students are to present on their progress with their senior thesis and discuss it with other seminar participants. I will provide individual guidance when necessary. There will be opportunities to have a discussion with postgraduate students.
Course Goals Through working on the senior thesis, students are expected to develop the skills to examine private/social problems and attain academic achievements and overcome challenges. Students are also expected to be able to identify the theme to be resolved, explore/set the analytical task/method for arriving at a solution, collect and analyze data independently, and organize and present the findings.
Schedule and Contents (1) Building on the work on the senior thesis carried out in Seminar II, Seminar III focuses on the analysis and examination of research findings. It tests the hypothesis, identifies problems in theory or the reality, and suggests solutions. If necessary, supplementary research will be conducted (about 10 sessions).
(2) Drawing from the analysis described above, students write up their thesis. Aim to complete the first draft by the end of December or the end of winter break. After that, students check the draft and make correction in order to complete the thesis (about 4 sessions).
(3) Feedback (1 session)
Evaluation Methods and Policy Assessment is based on attitude (attendance and seminar participation) and in-class presentations.
Assessment criteria and policy are drawn from "Assessment criteria and policy" in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook.
Course Requirements Draft the senior thesis, to be submitted at the end of winter break.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Regarding the senior thesis, fully engage with the literature necessary to make progress, and regardless of the presentation rota, work independently on it. Be sure to report progress at the seminar, and reflect on seminar discussions on your work.
