Outline and Purpose of the Course We will engage with selected literature that will be useful in developing a new perspective based on major literature in research fields related to the structure of the food system, agricultural management/agribusiness (agriculture-/food-related industries/enterprises) and what constitutes it, and consumer structure and behavior, as well as related fields in general economics and management, in addition to other fields of research.
Course Goals  To acquire accurate and broad knowledge of the structure of the food system and the agricultural management/agribusiness (agriculture-/food-related industries/enterprises) that constitute it, consumer structure, and behavior, and economics and management, which are required to understand the former.
 To acquire the skills to read Japanese and foreign literature, gain new insights, and recognize the subject.
 In addition, through working on the senior thesis, to acquire the ability to examine social problems and academic achievements and challenges, and identify the theme to be resolved, as well as explore/set the analytical tasks and analytical method necessary to arrive at a solution.
Schedule and Contents (1) Text reading (12 classes)
Seminar participants report on the content and points of the assigned text, and the seminar includes a discussion based on the presentation. By doing so, it is expected that students will develop their ability to capture what the text says and examine its content.

(2) Presentation and discussion on senior thesis themes (2 classes)
To prepare for the senior thesis, students identify their academic interest, develop awareness, and discuss themes, research questions, and the research method. Guidance on how to create a literature list and how to read related literature will be given.

(3) Feedback (1 class)
Evaluation Methods and Policy Assessment is based on attitude (attendance and seminar participation) and in-class presentations.
Assessment criteria and policy are drawn from "Assessment criteria and policy" in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook.
Course Requirements None
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) (1) Regarding textbook reading, engage fully with the assigned text and any related texts that are useful in deepening your understanding of the former in advance, and come to the seminar fully prepared to present discussion points.
(2) Regarding the senior thesis, fully engage with the literature necessary to make progress, and regardless of the presentation rota, work independently on it. Be sure to report progress at the seminar, and reflect on seminar discussions on your work.
