Outline and Purpose of the Course The biochemical properties of biologically active substances in marine organisms have been studied for their uses in improving the quality of human health and life. These include their chemical structural characteristics, properties, and composition, as well as physiological functions including prevention of lifestyle diseases, anti-allergy properties, use in skincare, and mechanism of action.
Course Goals To understand the current effective uses of marine microorganisms and acquire the ability to engage with problems by considering future possibilities.
Schedule and Contents The course will proceed according to the following basic plan. However, the order of topics and number of lectures on a topic may change depending on the students' understanding and references to other topics.

Day 1: Background and significance of the use of marine life resources
Day 2: Chemical properties and characteristics of polyunsaturated fatty acids from marine organisms
Day 3: Anti-atherosclerotic effect and its molecular mechanism
Day 4: Lipid metabolism improvement and its molecular mechanism
Day 5: Anti-inflammatory action and its molecular mechanism
