Outline and Purpose of the Course The aim is to experience the research method in the context of food and environmental economics and fieldwork in a food/agricultural/rural area. Teaching is delivered in small groups, focusing on the practical using the field divided by methodology that characterizes each educational research field. As this course is linked to Research Method in Practice II, students are required to take both.
Course Goals To develop the ability to formulate original ideas and methodology, while critically absorbing existing theory and concept.
Schedule and Contents  The practical sessions are carried out in each field in the first week. We will provide guidance on the practical work in each field, so that students can decide which field to choose.

 Each field has its own curriculum. There are two major areas in their practical work.

 ○ To plan and implement fieldwork related to agriculture/the rural area and produce a report on it.

 ○ To engage in manipulation/analysis of material and site observation while learning methodologies based on the characteristics of each field.

 Depending on the nature of the practical work, some fields have weekly lectures and others have intensive lectures. In any case, a total of 30 hours of teaching is planned.
Evaluation Methods and Policy ・Assessment is based on class participation and attitude, and contribution to practical work.

・Assessment criteria and policy are drawn from "Assessment criteria and policy" in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook.
Course Requirements Given that the delivery mode will differ by field, be sure to attend the guidance session, and choose the appropriate field for you.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Be sure to prepare for the next class by reviewing each lecture and discussion, and performing review tasks.
