Outline and Purpose of the Course Students are asked to select a suitable research article in English on quality design and quality assessment, and present on it, also sharing their research findings. They will then engage in discussion with teaching staff and other students in order to deepen their understanding of quality science research.
Course Goals To acquire the skills to write and format scientific articles, understand cutting-edge research findings and research trends, and think logically, which are necessary to pursue scientific research. Additionally, to acquire presentation skills in order to effectively convey research findings by producing slides and handouts and utilizing public speaking.
Schedule and Contents 1. Presenting on the research project (Weeks 1-3 and 11-14 in the first semester; Weeks 1-3 and 11-14 in the second semester; Maruyama and Cabanos)

Students will report on the background, methodology and findings of their own research project. By discussing problems and further development, students will develop the basic skills to pursue research.

2. Presentation of academic articles (Weeks 4-10 in the first semester; Weeks 4-10 in the second semester; Maruyama and Cabanos)

Students will select one academic article on quality science written in English from a top-class international journal and read it carefully to produce a handout. Using the handout and PowerPoint, each student will present on the article and engage with other participants about the content via a Q&A. By doing so, they will not only familiarize with the latest trends in quality science research and research methods, but also become acquainted with how world-class researchers conduct research.

3. Feedback (Week 15 in the first semester; Week 15 in the second semester; Maruyama and Cabanos)
Evaluation Methods and Policy Attendance (50%); presentation, Q&A, and participation in discussions (50%). The presentation (slides, handouts, presentation style, and public speaking), Q&A, and response to other students' presentations are assessed.
Assessment criteria and policy are drawn from "Assessment criteria and policy" in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook.
Course Requirements It is advisable that students have a sound understanding of quality science, quality design development, and quality assessment.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Preparation: The presenter learns about the presentation content and produces slides and handouts. For other students' presentations, be sure to read the presenter's material, which will be distributed by e-mail in advance.
Review: Review the topics discussed during the presentation and seek teaching staff's guidance on the points that are not clear.
