Outline and Purpose of the Course | Students are asked to select a research article on ponic system studies that relates to their own research interest and present on its content as well as their thoughts on it. By discussing the presentation with the teaching staff and other students, students' comprehension of the article will be enhanced, along with their presentation skills. Students are also asked to present and discuss their own research plan, research progress, and findings in order to facilitate the completion of the senior thesis. Course Goals |
・To be able to comprehend trends in research and critically read previous studies. ・To develop the necessary skills to pursue originality and the skills needed to write an article, such as relevant logic, composition, and writing, which are necessary to pursue research. ・To acquire accurate and broad knowledge of ponic system studies, as well as the skills to identify new research findings and build a theory. |

Schedule and Contents |
Depending on the progress of students' senior theses, one-to-one tuition will be given regarding setting the research question, collecting and critically examining previous studies, examining the research method, conducting research, reading material, and writing up the thesis. Teaching will be provided in the form that is optimized to each student's research theme. There will be 14 classes in each semester (28 classes in the academic year) on the following topics, and one feedback session in each semester. 1. Presentation on an academic article Each student selects a research article on ponic systems and reads it carefully. He/she then prepares a handout and distributes it to the teaching staff and students. He/she does an oral presentation using the handout and PowerPoint, and engages with other students during a Q&A session on the presentation. 2. Presentation on the research topic Students are required to do a presentation on the research plan, interim results, and final findings, using a handout and PowerPoint, and engage with other students during a Q&A session on the presentation. The handout should be distributed to the teaching staff and students in advance. |
