Course Description
Russia produced scientist Dmitriy Ivanovich Mendeleev who discovered the periodic table. Dr. Andrey Vorobiev, professor of chemistry at Moscow State University in Russia, talks about the beginning of chemical research and university education in Russia while referring to its cultural and geographical backgrounds and western influences on Russia. Prof. Vorobiev also discusses strengths and weaknesses of the academic world of science in Russia and gives some prospects for basic chemistry and applied science in the future.
