Outline and Purpose of the Course |
The "contemporary era" has usually been considered as starting from the First World War. Though this interpretation is still prevalent, we should remember that it emerged in the mid-20th century. Looking into the issue again from the perspective of the 21st century, we may find other starting points of the "contemporary era." Based on this awareness, we will outline the development of "world history" since the 19th century through to the 21st century. |
Course Goals |
To understand the basic historical facts and major theoretical interpretations on the development of "modern" to "contemporary" world history. To learn and understand basic ways and methodology of historical analysis and historical thinking. |
