Outline and Purpose of the Course This course focus on Greek and Latin didactic poetry. In Greek and Roman antiquity, there were a number of poetic works that aimed to initiate the reader into a particular subject: agriculture, philosophy, astrology etc. Reading some of these works, students will be provided with a perspective on the intellectual tradition which produced and developed this "genre".
Course Goals students will:
1. be able to understand and describe the particularities of the works discussed in the lecture
2. develop knowledge on intellectual tradition behind each of the poets
