| Outline and Purpose of the Course |
社会科学系、特に行動科学に関する英語文献を読むための基礎的なスキルを身につけることを目的とし、人間の意識に関する入門書(S. Blakemore著 Consciousness, A very short introduction, second edition)を読む。心理学、神経科学の知見を軸に、哲学的な議論までを平易に解説している。全文の訳読を行うが、定訳がない用語も多いので日本語訳の正確さより内容理解を重視する。 |

| Course Goals | 英語文献を迅速かつ正確に読解し重要なポイントを理解する能力、及び、行動科学の基礎となる人間の意識についての基礎知識を身につける。 | |||
| Schedule and Contents |
原則として一人あたり1章ずつ順に訳出してもらい、教員による補足説明を行う。毎回最後に内容に関する質疑を行う（長さによって調整する場合がある）。内容は以下の通りである。各章は16-17頁であり、1章あたり2回で読むことを目安とする。 第1回 オリエンテーション 第2回ー第14回 2週で1章の読解を目指す。 1章 Why the mystery? 2章 The human brain 3章 Time and space 4章 A grand illusion 5章 The self 6章 Conscious will 7章 Altered status of consciousness 8章 The evolution of consciousness 《期末試験》 第15 回 フィードバック |

| Evaluation Methods and Policy | 平常点(授業中の訳読担当・60%)と期末試験(40％)。なお、社会情勢に応じた大学の要請により期末試験をレポート課題で代替する可能性がある。 | |||
