Outline and Purpose of the Course |
(Aim) The course's focus is to introduce and discuss the latest literature in organic chemistry, synthetic reactions, asymmetric synthesis, total synthesis of natural products, molecular recognition, stereochemistry, supramolecular chemistry, organometallic chemistry, structural organic chemistry, functional molecules, and computational chemistry. It will equip students with specialist knowledge and provide practical training in logical thinking through the latest research papers. Students will develop their communication skills as researchers through presentations and discussions. The course provides the foundation for students to develop into independent researchers with a willingness to cooperate, an ability to think constructively, and the power to see the big picture. (Summary) The course focuses on basic research in the above fields, with applied research introduced where appropriate, and with plenty of discussion. The person assigned to speak will prepare a summary and give a presentation, followed by a class discussion. Some classes will be in English. |
|||
Course Goals | Thorough discussions about the latest research findings will help students develop the ability to identify the scientific events and principles that produce these results. Discussions will also be held with the intention of stimulating ideas that will lead to the production of highly innovative and original research. | |||
