Outline and Purpose of the Course In spite of continuous efforts to alleviate poverty in developing countries, there are still many poor people in the world. Development economics is a discipline that uses the tools of economics to analyze the various problems faced by developing countries.
In this class, we will learn about the results of economics research on poverty issues, with focuses on policy evaluations and relevant economic theories.
Course Goals - To acquire advanced knowledge in development economics
- To understand the selection bias in empirical analysis and how to deal with it.
- To understand how to apply the knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics for understanding economic problems in the real world and making better policies.

Course Requirements It is recommended that students have taken or are taking microeconomics, statistics, and econometrics.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) Preparation is not mandatory, but students must review the material after every lecture.
