Number of Credits | 2 | Course Type | Lecture
Target Year | 3rd year students | Target Student
Language | Japanese | Day/Period | Tue.3
Instructor name | KONDOU NAOSHI (Graduate School of Agriculture Professor)
Outline and Purpose of the Course | The objective is to learn about the expression of basic elements, the Laplace transform of the transfer function of first order and second order systems, as well as how to express the control system using a block diagram regarding control engineering. In addition, students learn basic theory and practical application such as feedback control and the frequency response. Through these, students are expected to learn the basics of automation and acquire the skills to use them in modeling agricultural products and crops.
Course Goals | ・To understand how to express simple phenomena in transient response with primary delay or secondary delay, and to be able to match natural events and the responses of living creatures to the transfer function.
Schedule and Contents |
I plan to give one or two lectures per topic as listed below. 1. Basic concepts in control engineering (what is automatic control?) 2-3. Laplace transform and differential equation 4. The basic composition of the control system 5-6. Transfer function 7. Block diagram 8. Primary delay and transient response method 9. Impulse response and step response 10-11. Higher order transient response 12. Frequency response method 13. Vector locus inverse vector locus 14. Bode diagram of each element <<End-of-semester exam>> 15. Feedback |

Evaluation Methods and Policy |
Assessment is based on the report (20 points), in-class mini tests (30 points), and the end-of-semester exam (50 points). Assessment criteria and policy are drawn from "Assessment criteria and policy" in the current version of the Faculty of Agriculture Student Handbook. |
|||
Course Requirements | Students are expected to have taken calculus and be familiar with the Laplace transform in particular.
Study outside of Class (preparation and review) | Prepare for the next lecture, and solve the practice problems. You should also tackle problems that were not assigned.
