Outline and Purpose of the Course Water management in agricultural land and rural areas is an extremely important not only for crop production but also for environmental conservation. This is a lecture on fundamentals and applications of "irrigation drainage" which is a basic technical system for controlling water. Specifically, it includes paddy irrigation and upland irrigation as water use, agricultural land drainage discharging unnecessary water, agricultural irrigation system to control them, multifunctionalities of irrigation system, water quality conservation, ecosystem conservation, and water management for global environment.
Course Goals We will make irrigation and drainage planning for paddy and upland possible, and understand irrigation-drainage techniques for environmental conservation.
