授業の概要・目的 This is an integrated skills course focusing on listening and speaking. After working on thoroughly understanding the content, students will have opportunities to discuss with a partner, make short presentations to small groups, and make a short presentation to the entire class. To understand the content we will learn appropriate vocabulary, improve reading comprehension skills, and reflect. The content deals with information, cultural, historical and geographical facts about various countries around the world. Beyond the comprehension of these facts, we will make interpretations and comparisons between different countries, principally considering differences between Japan and the country being considered. Students will talk about the content and share their insights and observations. In addition, we will touch on how to deliver a short presentation effectively while emphasizing aspects such as pronunciation, volume, intonation, and body language. Students will improve their listening and speaking skills in particular, and, to a lesser extent, presentation, reading and writing skills.
