授業の概要・目的 The purpose of this course is to give some basic instruction and advice regarding reading and understanding academic research articles. This course is also an introduction to behavioral and experimental economics. Through reading academic journal articles (mostly from American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic Perspectives, and Experimental Economics) on exploring human behavior, you will learn the basic structure of academic articles, how to find information you need, how to summarize a single or multiple articles with your own words, how to replicate examples or classroom experiments explained in articles, and how to review the economics literature.
Another purpose of this course is to introduce an overview of findings in behavioral and experimental economics and to show how experimental methods can be used to better understand human behavior. We will cover bargaining games, cooperation games, coordination games, social norms, social preferences and bounded rationality. Through group work and individual exercises, you will also learn how to design and implement a classroom experiment. This course aims to provide you with opportunities to share and develop your research interests, improve your academic skills, and work on a collaborative group project.
到達目標 At the end of the class my goal is for you: 1) to be able to better understand human economic behavior through the lens of behavioral and experimental economics; 2) to be able to better understand how to read scientific papers.
